Act 4, Scene 1. In Friar Miley's house.
"Love Don't Die" by The Fray.
After North is informed of the expectations that she is to be wed to 2 Chains #2, she seeks Friar Miley's help. Friar Miley concocts a plan to help North solve her dilemma by smoking one of her joints, which will put North into a deep sleep. This risky plan to bring North and Usher Raymond together again makes "Love Don't Die" by the Fray a great way to portray the emotion that was behind North's actions. The song begins to play when North and Friar Miley enter a room in which they can speak privately. In response to Friar Miley, North says, "And I will do it without fear or doubt, / To live an unstained wife to my sweet love." (4.1.89-90) Likewise in the song it states, "If I know one thing, that's true. It ain't what you say, it's what you do," which shows that North has made a promise to not only herself, but to Usher Raymond by promising to follow through with the plan. Also, North proclaims that, “I long to die/ If what thou speak’st speak not of remedy,” (4.1.67-68) to avoid marrying 2 Chains #2. Similarly, the Fray sings, “Bury it in the ground/ You can close it off and turn it away /Try to keep it down, six feet in the ground, But love don't die.” This quote captures the message that even in death North and Usher Raymond will still love each other, and nothing can tear them apart. Additionally, the lyrics, “And even if they try, They’ll never take my body from your side,” will give the audience a better understanding at the end of the play when North yells, “Go, get thee hence, for I will not away.” (5.3.165) Therefore, "Love Don't Die" by the Fray perfectly captures the emotions North is feeling and what determines her actions.

Lyrics to "Love Don't Die" by the Fray:
If I know one thing, that's true/ It ain't what you say, it's what you do/ And you don't say much, yeah, that's true/ But I listen when you do/ A thousand years go by/ But love don't die/ If I know one thing, that's true/ It's that I'm never leaving you/ And you don't say much, yeah, that's true/ But I lose it when you do/ Don't let them tell no lie/ Love don't die/ No matter where we go/ Or even if we don't/ And even if they try/ They'll never take my body from your side/ Love don't die
If there is one thing, that's true/ It's not what I say, it's what I do/ And I say too much, yeah, that's true/ So just listen to what I do/ A thousand years go by/ But love don't die/ No matter where we go/ Or even if we don't/ And even if they try/ They'll never take my body from your side/ Love don't die/ She can break it up/ Shake your money down/ You can box it in/ Bury it in the ground/ You can close it off and turn it away/ Try to keep it down, six feet in the ground/ But love don't die/ No matter where we go/ Or even if we don't/ And even if they try They'll never take my body from your side/ Love don't die/ No matter where we go/ Or even if we don't/ I’d like to watch them try/ They'll never take my body from your side/ Love don't die
